Day-to-day, you'll be...

  • Building and maintaining high-quality relationships with hotel guests & corporate clients staying with us and using our meeting facilities
  • Training up your staff to deliver a high standard of friendly and personalized service to guests

  • Soliciting guest feedback
  • Using that feedback to help us improve our F&B operation
  • Improving the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for your areas of responsibility

Position Statement

The Assistant Chinese Banquet Chef supports the Chinese Banquet Chef in managing the Chinese Kitchen, ensuring the preparation and delivery of high‑quality dishes for banquet events and Chinese culinary operations. This role assists in meal planning, supervising kitchen team members, maintaining culinary standards, and ensuring cost‑effective operations.

In the absence of the Chinese Banquet Chef, the Assistant Chinese Banquet Chef will oversee all Chinese banquet kitchen operations to ensure continuity, consistency, and smooth service delivery.

What will you be doing?

As the Assistant Chinese Banquet Chef, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

Culinary Operations & Food Quality

  • Assist in planning, preparing, and executing high-quality dishes for Chinese banquets and related operations.

  • Ensure all recipes, standards, and plating guides are followed consistently.

  • Support menu preparation, new dish development, food tastings, and photo shoots as required.

  • Monitor the quality, presentation, and portioning of all food items, ensuring economical use of ingredients.

  • Conduct regular checks on ingredients and mise‑en‑place for daily menus and specials.

  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of all banquet and event-related dishes.

  • Oversee all Chinese banquet kitchen operations when the Chinese Banquet Chef is absent.

This role is responsible for overseeing the hotel’s central communication hub, ensuring prompt, professional, and personalized guest assistance across phone, email, and messaging channels. You’ll play a key role in supervising call center operations, coordinating service delivery across departments, and ensuring seamless guest communication from pre-arrival to post-departure.


    Key Responsibilities:

    • Answer all incoming guest calls promptly and professionally, providing accurate information and warm service.

    • Handle a wide range of guest requests, from in-room services and amenities to hotel facilities, wake-up calls, message handling, and more.

    • Monitor and manage the hotel’s telephone lines, ensuring busy or unanswered calls are followed up promptly.

    • Coordinate guest service requests with relevant departments (Housekeeping, Engineering, Concierge, Bell Desk, Front Office).

    • Enter, record, and relay messages clearly and accurately, following up to ensure completion.

    • Manage basic reservations, including new bookings, amendments, cancellations, and special requests.

    • Maintain a service-focused tone in all guest interactions, even in high-pressure situations.

    • Stay updated on hotel services, room types, promotions, and local information to support guest inquiries.

    • Collaborate with Front Office to ensure seamless pre-arrival and in-house experiences.

    • Ensure the work area is well-organized, and reports and records are completed as required.

    • Supervise day-to-day AYS operations and assist junior team members.


    Requirements:

    • Minimum Diploma in Hotels/Hospitality Management or equivalent. 

    • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in hospitality or customer service roles.

    • Strong communication, problem-solving, and coordination skills.

    • Proficient in Opera PMS and call centre systems.
